Today I woke up at 7:30 AM, left my dorm room at 8 AM, and sped (literally ran) down the hill to catch the 8:35 AM train to Boston. It was a sunny day filled with dim sum and friends.
Ever since we graduated from high school in 2012, I hadn't seen one of them in two years. Things have changed but the friendship is always there; we've all basically known each other since middle school and a bond like that can weather the stormy seas of time.
Inside each of us is a longing to connect, communicate, and count on. To embrace and empathize. To understand. That's God; He intended for every person to be in harmony with each other. But because of Adam and Eve's rebellion, because of our inherent brokenness, our relationships with fellow humans are not perfect. At times we disagree or annoy each other. We may hurt others and are hurt by others. But despite all our flaws, I think God helps us to strive to love each other, "to be patient, bearing with one another in love" (Ephesians 4:2). And when the time comes, God will renew all things, including human relationships.
What do you think it means to "bear with one another in love"?
